What to Watch This Month: Italian Films and Series Worth Your Time — November 2026

November’s Italian watchlist combines sharp comedy, crime and intimate drama, with RaiPlay discoveries, spoiler guidance and dated viewing information for Italy and the USA.

November calls for something worth settling down with: a sharp comedy, an absorbing mystery or a series whose characters become familiar company. This month’s Italian watchlist combines uncomfortable dinner-table revelations, a thriller about money and status, and three discoveries from RaiPlay.

These are recommendations for November 2026, rather than announced November premieres. The selection changes from October’s lineup, with an emphasis on stories you may have missed.

Viewing information checked November 1, 2026. Checks used public broadcaster pages and country-specific streaming listings, rather than signed-in playback tests. Catalogs, individual seasons and language options can change. Where a US viewing option could not be confirmed, that limitation is stated.

Spoiler guidance: The descriptions below cover opening premises and themes only. No endings, culprits or major relationship outcomes are revealed.

RaiPlay listings refer to the Italian service. A program page does not establish overseas playback rights, and English subtitles should not be assumed.

Human Capital: When Money Changes Every Relationship

Italian title: Il capitale umano
Format: Film, 2013
Director: Paolo Virzì

A road accident connects two families occupying different positions in northern Italy’s social hierarchy. Around that event, ambitions and private anxieties begin to take on a different meaning.

Why watch it: Choose Human Capital for an evening when you want a thriller with something to say about ordinary aspirations. The desire to belong, to appear successful or to protect a comfortable life gives the mystery its emotional pressure.

The film’s shifting perspectives encourage you to reconsider people you thought you understood. A gesture that initially looks confident may conceal insecurity; an apparently generous relationship may carry an expectation of repayment.

Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Fabrizio Gifuni and Valeria Golino give the social tensions distinct personalities. The setting also offers a useful change from the familiar screen Italy of picturesque holidays and sunlit terraces.

Spoiler and viewing notes: Expect a serious road accident, distress and morally uncomfortable behavior. Avoid detailed plot summaries: discovering how the perspectives connect is part of the experience.

Where to watch, checked November 1: US listings show Film Movement Plus, including its separately paid Amazon Channel, and Amazon rental or digital purchase. Kanopy and Hoopla are also listed, subject to your participating institution’s access. Italian listings show Amazon rental and purchase options. A Film Movement Plus channel subscription is separate from ordinary Prime membership. justwatch.com

Use these clearly labeled searches to find the correct edition: Human Capital, Paolo Virzì, on Amazon.com or Il capitale umano on Amazon.it. Select the Italian film, rather than the American remake, and confirm subtitles before paying.

Perfect Strangers: Put the Phones on the Table

Italian title: Perfetti sconosciuti
Format: Film, 2016
Director: Paolo Genovese

Friends gather for dinner and agree to share incoming messages and calls. What sounds like an amusing experiment immediately raises a more troubling question: how much privacy can a relationship tolerate?

Why watch it: This is November’s strongest choice for watching with friends and discussing afterward. Its compact premise needs little explanation, leaving room for the actors, the dialogue and the discomfort of people trying to maintain control.

The pleasure comes from noticing changes in the room: a delayed response, an awkward laugh or someone suddenly becoming very interested in another person’s telephone.

It is funny, but the humor carries tension. The film invites viewers to think about the difference between honesty and exposure, and whether knowing everything about another person would necessarily bring you closer.

Spoiler and viewing notes: Expect sexual references, relationship conflict and discriminatory attitudes expressed by characters. Avoid explanations of the ending.

Where to watch, checked November 1: Disney+ has an Italian title page for the film. The US JustWatch listing currently reports no streaming offer; this edition therefore does not promise a US rental or subscription option. Disney+

The Bad Guy: A Sicilian Crime Story With a Different Rhythm

Format: Series, beginning in 2022

Nino Scotellaro is a Sicilian prosecutor who has devoted himself to fighting the Mafia. When he is accused of belonging to the world he has pursued, the premise opens the door to revenge, reinvention and dark comedy.

Why watch it: Choose The Bad Guy if you enjoy crime stories but want something more eccentric than a straightforward police procedural.

Its central situation makes identity unstable. What happens when the role that gave a person authority becomes impossible to inhabit? The series turns that question into entertainment with an abrasive comic edge.

Luigi Lo Cascio’s presence is another attraction. The premise gives him room to move between professional certainty and a far less predictable position.

Spoiler and viewing notes: Expect violence, strong language and organized-crime themes. Start with the first season; descriptions of subsequent seasons disclose earlier developments.

Where to watch, checked November 1: Italian listings show Prime Video subscription streaming. The US listing currently reports no available streaming provider, so Italian availability should not be presented as worldwide Prime availability. guarda la serie in streaming online

Vincenzo Malinconico: The Lawyer Who Thinks Too Much

Full title: Vincenzo Malinconico, avvocato d’insuccesso
Format: Series
RaiPlay discovery

Vincenzo is a lawyer with an uncertain professional life and a talent for turning everyday difficulties into philosophical reflection. Massimiliano Gallo plays the character created in Diego De Silva’s novels.

Why watch it: This is a useful alternative to television built around brilliant professionals who always have the answer. Vincenzo’s hesitations and digressions create room for observational humor.

Choose it when you want character and conversation alongside legal situations. His difficulty in organizing life can be more recognizable than the problems he is supposed to solve for clients.

The attraction is the voice of the character: someone who notices a great deal while remaining imperfectly equipped to act on it.

Spoiler and viewing notes: Begin with season one. Expect adult relationship complications and legal cases involving difficult situations.

Where to watch, checked November 1: RaiPlay maintains a season-one episode page. US listings report no current streaming option. Check the player for territorial availability and subtitle choices. RaiPlay

Settembre: A Quiet Film About Wanting Something Else

Format: Film, 2022
Director: Giulia Steigerwalt
RaiPlay discovery

Several people confront the distance between the lives they have and the lives they hoped for. Francesca’s troubled marriage forms part of an ensemble story about intimacy, uncertainty and the possibility of connection.

Why watch it: Choose Settembre when you want a smaller, more intimate film. Its appeal lies in recognizable emotional situations rather than spectacle.

The title need not restrict it to September viewing. An autumn evening suits a story about taking stock, noticing dissatisfaction and wondering whether something can change.

Barbara Ronchi and Fabrizio Bentivoglio are among the performers. The intersecting lives offer different ways into the same broad question: how do people admit what they need?

Spoiler and viewing notes: Expect marital difficulties, sexual themes and adolescent relationship material. No romantic outcomes are disclosed here.

Where to watch, checked November 1: An official RaiPlay film page is available. US distribution was not verified sufficiently for this edition, so no US provider is recommended. The Italian page alone does not establish US playback. RaiPlay

Mina Settembre: Naples, Work and Other People’s Problems

Format: Series
RaiPlay discovery

Serena Rossi plays a Naples social worker whose determination to help others exists alongside a complicated personal life.

Why watch it: This is the selection for viewers who enjoy recurring characters, professional stories and emotional continuity. Helping someone else can give an episode its immediate purpose, while Mina’s own relationships provide reasons to return.

It also broadens the month’s tone. After the social maneuvering of Human Capital or the tension of The Bad Guy, Mina Settembre offers a warmer entry point into Italian television.

Spoiler and viewing notes: Start with season one. Later-season descriptions can reveal family and romantic developments. Expect social hardship and emotionally difficult cases.

Where to watch, checked November 1: RaiPlay’s official page lists three seasons. A US viewing route was not verified for this edition. Check individual episodes and language settings before planning a viewing session. RaiPlay

Watching RaiPlay and Italian TV From the USA With NordVPN

Italian broadcaster websites can offer a much wider selection than the Italian productions distributed through US streaming platforms. Territorial restrictions, however, apply to individual programs.

NordVPN offers Italian servers through Italia Mia’s affiliate link. Connecting through an Italian server gives your device an Italian IP address and may allow access to some Italian television content from the USA. Playback is not guaranteed.

For RaiPlay, the practical process is to install the official NordVPN application on your viewing device, sign in, select Italy and open RaiPlay’s official website or application. Sign in to RaiPlay separately if requested, then check the individual episode.

An Italian IP address does not supply distribution rights, a broadcaster account or a paid subscription. Broadcasters may detect VPN connections, and their current access conditions still apply. English subtitles also remain dependent on the particular program.

Other channels require their own checks. Mediaset Infinity explicitly says it does not permit VPN connections, so NordVPN should not be bought on the assumption that it will unlock that service. For other broadcasters, consult the official player and overseas-access guidance. Mediaset Infinity

Use a verified local viewing option when one suits your needs. For this month’s selection, Human Capital has the clearest confirmed US choices; the RaiPlay discoveries are particularly useful to readers watching in Italy.
