How Inter Won the Title
Inter secured the championship on May 3, 2026, beating Parma 2–0 at San Siro with three league matches remaining. Cristian Chivu’s side ultimately finished 11 points ahead of Napoli.
The champions’ record was 27 wins, six draws and five defeats. Their 89 goals made them the division’s highest-scoring team, while a goal difference of +54 underlined the scale of their advantage.
Defensive comparisons require a distinction: Inter conceded 35 goals, but Como recorded the league’s lowest total with 29. Roma also conceded fewer than the champions, allowing 31. Inter’s title-winning strength therefore lay in the combination of results and attacking output rather than the best defensive record.
Inter also completed a domestic league-and-cup double, defeating Lazio 2–0 in the Coppa Italia final on May 13.
European Qualification for 2026–27
The completed season produced the following European qualifiers:
Competition Qualified clubs UEFA Champions League — league phase Inter, Napoli, Roma, Como UEFA Europa League — league phase Milan, Juventus UEFA Conference League — qualifying playoff berth Atalanta Roma and Como claimed the final two Champions League positions on the closing weekend. Milan’s 2–1 home defeat against Cagliari left the club fifth, while Juventus finished sixth after drawing 2–2 with Torino.
Inter’s Coppa Italia victory mattered to the allocation of places. Because the cup winners had already qualified for the Champions League, the Europa League places extended to fifth and sixth in the league, with seventh taking the Conference League qualifying berth. Lazio’s appearance in the cup final did not itself provide European qualification.
Roma and Como’s Final-Day Breakthrough
Roma finished third with 73 points after winning 2–0 away to Hellas Verona. Como’s 4–1 victory at Cremonese secured fourth place with 71 points, one ahead of Milan and two ahead of Juventus.
For Como, the result delivered the club’s first qualification for a UEFA competition—and immediate entry into the Champions League. Cesc Fàbregas’s team combined 65 league goals with just 29 conceded, making its achievement measurable at both ends of the pitch.

Relegation and Lecce’s Survival
Cremonese finished 18th with 34 points, Hellas Verona 19th with 21, and Pisa last with 18. All three dropped to Serie B for 2026–27.
Lecce survived with 38 points, four clear of Cremonese. Its closing 1–0 victory against Genoa confirmed safety, while Cremonese’s defeat against Como completed the relegation picture.
The three clubs promoted into Serie A for 2025–26 had been Sassuolo, Pisa and Cremonese. Their outcomes differed sharply: Sassuolo finished 11th with 49 points, while Pisa and Cremonese returned to Serie B after one season.
All Three Clubs Promoted for 2026–27
Venezia, Frosinone and Monza earned promotion from the 2025–26 Serie B campaign.

Monza took the remaining place through the playoffs. In the final against Catanzaro, Monza won the away leg 2–0 before losing the home return by the same score. With the aggregate result level, Monza advanced because of its higher regular-season finish. Promotion was confirmed on May 29, 2026.
These three clubs replaced Cremonese, Hellas Verona and Pisa for the following Serie A season.
